The importance of the first years of life

PIPPILOTTA aims to develop, from an early age, the skills needed to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The PIPPILOTTA project, entirely dedicated to the positive development of children aged 0-6, raises awareness of early childhood issues among a wide audience, identifies factors that are (dis)favourable to young children's development, encourages a large number of players to invest in young children and identifies priority needs in Luxembourg.

The project centres on two pillars:

  • a scientific pillar that focuses on existing challenges, proposes practical solutions through the organisation of conferences and "Let's Talk Education" panel discussions and explores research, publications and other avenues (podcasts, etc.) on early childhood. The project will culminate in a major national event in 2026.
  • a practical pillar, "KiVi (kids village), PippiLotta's village", that focuses on children's needs and participation and consists of various stages:
  1. the creation of the "PippiLotta" mascot: conception workshops to design "PippiLotta" with children of the Stadmais kindergarten & design workshops to fabricate "PippiLotta" with children of Wiltz's Maison Relais Geenzepark from March to May 2024 in collaboration with Conex (Cooperations), Naturpark Öewersauer and Kannerhaus Wooltz
  2. the participatory creation of a mobile village: carpentry and creative workshops with children (cycles 3 and 4) of the École Jean Jaurès and CIGL's Maison Relais Heemelmaus in Esch from April to May 2024 in collaboration with La Bonneterie and the artist Paule Lemmer
  3. the development of the village with additional modules and a trip around Luxembourg (2025-2026): workshops for children aged 0 to 6 starting in October 2024

The project was launched at our "Let's Talk Education - Zoom sur la Petite Enfance" panel discussion in November 2023.

Early childhood is a decisive stage in a child’s life, during which they develop their cognitive, motor, emotional and social skills. It is therefore vital to pay special attention to these years, which stretch from 0 to 6 years.
